Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) celebrated its annual Summer Picnic on June 12, 2010. More than 300 adults and kids gathered at Elizabeth Lake in Fremont to participate in the picnic.
The weather was perfect with glorious summer breeze. The event was a grand success: everyone enjoyed fun filled games and delicious Andhra dishes. The picnic brought a Telugu festive look to the park with kids and parents dressing up in traditional Indian dresses. It was more like a family get-together, everyone pitching in various activities from food preparation to organizing games.
The picnic was attended by many community leaders from various organizations like TANA, SEF, Spandana, TCA. Sri Jayaram Komati, TANA President applauded the efforts by BATA team for yet another successful picnic.
Traditional spicy Maramaralu mixture (Muntha Kindha Pappu) was a big attraction of the picnic along with and BBQ. Mouth watering dishes prepared by BATA volunteers and with delicious food from sponsoring restaurants: Swagat, Peacock, Athidhi, Dosa Place, Biryani Bowl made a feast. Watermelon and pineapple were served after the lunch.
After delicious lunch, Vijaya Aasuri, Srilu Veligeti and other BATA committee members organized fun filled activities. Adults and kids alike enthusiastically participated in the games like Volleyball, Musical chairs, Three-legged race, Lemon in spoon, Tug-of-war. A tight fun filled Antakshari and Padakshari competition was held and efficiently conducted by TV9 Crew, which will be telecasted.
Kids thoroughly enjoyed the picnic. A colorful jump house was setup, where kids played through out the day. They participated in games like “Musical Chairs”, Tug-of-war and Pinata. They had fun eating Cotton Candy and Snow Cones. Kids and adults alike stood in the line to get their piece of the candy.
Tireless efforts by volunteers were praised by attendees. BATA executive committee Srilu Veligeti, Srinvas Kolli, Srini Mangipudi, Ramesh Konda, Kamesh Malla, Vijaya Aasuri, Veeru Vuppala, Kalyan Kattamuri, Sireesha Battula, Yaswanth Kudravalli, Ujwal Kastala, Prasad Mangina, Ravi Thiruveedula and Karun Veligeti thanked all the sponsors, volunteers and attendees for making this event a grand success.
